Today’s the big
day! Typically for our family, any
nerves and excitement about my trip to Ghana result in a succession of witty
banter from my children. Even the dog is
enjoying some African styling to say goodbye! First on the To Do list is to scrape the ice off the car windscreen! Well it is spring in the UK! Happy Easter everyone.

London Heathrow –
Amsterdam – Accra (Ghana)
I arrive, late
evening, in Accra with the UK AfriKids team, Kaite, Bea & Jo and our trip
doctor, Jane. In contrast to the UK it’s
hot at 33˚C. We all travel to the
Lavender Lodge in Accra. Here we meet
Shakira and Jane who are also on the Experience Challenge along with Catherine
(Hong Kong) and Som (Thailand) who arrived yesterday. We also have two Montessori school teachers,
Jacks and Debs, joining our group, who will be sharing their teaching skills in
local schools.
It’s been a long
day and other than delays going through immigration at Kotoka airport in Accra
the time has gone quickly. Tomorrow’s
itinerary kicks off with a 4am start! I’m
really not looking forward to that.
The team meets for
a quick evening briefing before turning in for the night. We’re all delighted to learn from AfriKids
Experience Challenge Manager, Katie, that tomorrow’s flight to Tamale has been delayed
and we have the luxury of sleeping in until 7am! Bedtime-tastic!
